The photographic exhibition  SAKIFE: Women’s health in Kivu continues its journey in North America!

Some of the snapshots taken by the photographer Christophe Smets from Liège will be on display in Montreal during the 90the Acfas Congress at theUniversité de Montréal du from May 8 to 12, 2023, in front of the Local (Valère) Cafeteria on the 2nd floor of the Jean-Brillant Pavilion (3200, Jean Brillant Street, Montreal).

Through the committed eye of Liège photographer Christophe Smets, SAKIFE : Woment's Health in Kivu presents moments of life and snapshots that illustrate the daily life of women in Kivu, a region in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As pillars of their families and communities, women live a life marked by poverty, sexual violence, and limited access to health care. The exhibition bears witness to the precarious conditions of Congolese women, but also to their resilience. It highlights the courage of these women and what they are doing to survive and heal.

The exhibition will be presented by the International Health Unit of theÉcole de santé publique de l’Université de Montréal. The Unit is a partner, with the Fondation Panzi, du projet TUMAINI, , which supports the fight against violence and the rehabilitation of survivors in South Kivu.

The exhibition SAKIFE: Women's Health in Kivu   will also be the subject of an episode of the miniseries: "Wallonie-Bruxelles et le Québec : 40 ans d’amitié francophone", by Radio Francophonie Sans Frontières.
